About Hy Seng

I arrived in Australia in 2008 with a quiet determination to create something meaningful. By 2013, I was working in the accounting industry, and over time I saw a system that felt out of step with the real lives of small business owners.

In 2018, I started Angkor CA with a new vision: to make accounting clear, human and genuinely helpful. No rigid traditions and no jargon, just thoughtful, practical guidance that helps people run their business with more confidence.

Why accounting?

I’ve always had a mind for numbers, but the heart of it came from my roots. Growing up in a business family, I watched my father put long hours into his store, hands-on and rarely resting. That taught me that behind every business is a real person trying to create a better life. That’s who I work for.

The bigger picture

I believe accounting isn’t just about numbers. It’s about confidence, clarity and headspace for the people we work with, so they feel in control of their business and their tax.

Inspiration and impact

A book I recommend: The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel, because financial success is as much about behaviour as it is about numbers.

A cause close to my heart: on a volunteer trip to Cambodia, I saw how access to basic education can change a child’s future. That drives the deeper purpose behind what we do.

What people say

“There’s this calm certainty in how Hy works. He makes the complex feel simple and the impossible feel possible.”

Beyond the numbers

I got married in 2015, and becoming a dad has given life a whole new meaning. Our first son was born in 2021 and our second in 2024.

Most weekends you’ll find us in the backyard kicking a soccer ball, heading out on a road trip or at the playground. We keep our family traditions close, like Saturday movie nights. They remind me why I do what I do: to help others build businesses that support the life they love.
