Frequently asked questions
What changed with Payday Super?
Under Payday Super, which started on 1 July 2026, super guarantee contributions generally need to reach the employee’s fund, with the information needed to allocate them, within 7 business days after payday. Paying super on payday is best practice. Longer deadlines apply in some cases, such as certain first contributions for a new employee. Super guarantee is generally 12% of qualifying earnings, subject to eligibility rules and the maximum contributions base. Qualifying earnings can include more than ordinary time earnings. We check the earnings base, rate and deadlines for your payroll.
Do I need to register for WorkCover in Victoria?
Generally yes, if you employ workers whose employment is connected with Victoria. Generally, you must register if your annual rateable remuneration is more than $7,500 or you employ an apprentice or trainee, including relevant deemed workers. Once you need to register, you generally must apply within 60 days of knowing, or when you should reasonably have known.
When do I need to pay Victorian payroll tax?
Victorian payroll tax generally applies when you pay Victorian taxable wages and your Australian taxable wages, or your group’s, are over the threshold set by Victorian law. Grouping, exemptions, interstate staff and part-year employment can change the result, and registration has its own trigger, so we monitor it during the year. Monthly returns and payments are generally due by the 7th of the following month, except June, which is covered by the annual reconciliation and payment due by 21 July.
How much does payroll cost?
Managed payroll starts from $150 + GST a month ($165 incl. GST), depending on how many people you pay and how often. The price includes Single Touch Payroll reporting, super payments under Payday Super, leave records and end-of-year STP finalisation. Payroll set-up, payroll tax returns, awards and timesheets are quoted. If you run your own payroll, we can check and finalise STP for you at the end of the year. We agree the scope and fee with you in writing before we start, and your first chat is free.
Is payroll included in your packages?
No. Our All You Need packages are priced by turnover. Running your payroll is a separate service, and we confirm its price before we start.
